When Reinhold Finskei returns to camp only a few minutes later, his companions are scattered in the corners of the tent, audibly digesting. Only Erbswurst leftovers and the empty backpack of the "Yak" stand witness to the horrible feast. Finskei is appalled, fuming, sad and disappointed, all at once. Mainly fuming, though. An a bit appalled.

A violent argument ensues. The others, still in shock because of their recent loss, want to descend back to civilization. Finskei does not give way, however. He is quite capable to go on without the gloves, he insists. When they mention the lack of food, he wildly laughs. Has mountain madness claimed the great man?

Finally Finskei takes off on his own, lone wolf of the mountain, just with his pick and the "Yak". And with his unlimited optimism, of course. Hardly necessary to say that, now, is it?
